| I have started a Google map for the 2009 Mazing Race. I believe I have all but one of the control points. I know I am missing one control point, and others might not quite be in the correct order. The direct URL to this map is

I hope someone might be able to complete, and correct, this list of control points. It would be nice to have the route added, but I've not yet found an easy way to do this with Google maps.
I did the race with my 14 year old son; we were Team MG. We had a great time.
Our first control point was at White Point Gardens (#13), probably as far from Marion Square as any control point. Since we did not get the clue about 16 Meeting Street until later in the race, we had to make a special trip back down Meeting Street (almost all the way to the Battery) before we could return to Marion Square. Teams that knew they needed to go by 16 Meeting Street before going to White Point Gardens had an advantage.
Of course, it was not necessary to go by 16 Meeting Street if you had a GPS or Internet access. Technology made other parts of the race easier as well. As a traditionalist, it would be nice if this advantage could be neutralized in the future. (I doubt my opinion on this will change if I get a smartphone.)
Other thoughts and impressions?
Overall, a great time. I can't wait until next year!

| Pretty cool map work. The missing stop your looking for on the map is in Washington Park where you got the "tiger eye". The only way to spread the 32 teams out over the field is to shotgun start and unfortunately for you guys drew the distance point for your first one. The GPS issue is one that's really spilling over into our other races where they really are off-limits but one that's almost impossible to police so we fall back on the honor system. Thanks for sharing this, let's hope some of the videos and pictures from the race are posted as well. Thanks for coming out and enjoying the Mazing Race. |
